2 min readUdupi: In what may add to the mounting troubles for the BJP led State Government, a contractor who had levelled grave allegations against RDPR Minister K S Eshwarappa recently over demanding 40 per cent commission to clear a bill has allegedly committed suicide.
Santosh Patil a resident of Vijayanagar in Belagavi is the deceased. He allegedly committed suicide by hanging at a lodge in Udupi. Patil along with his two friends had come to the coastal town on a trip.
He is suspected to have ended his life after sharing his death note with media persons in his native over phone.
In his death note purportedly written by Patil, he has held Eshwarappa responsible for his death and has demanded a stringent action against the minister.
“I have taken the extreme step ignoring all my desires. The government should do justice to my wife and kid, especially prime minister, chief minister and our lingayat leader B S Yediyurappa should extend an helping hand to my bereaved family members. I am also grateful to media friends. My friends Santosh and Prashanth just came on a trip on my insistence, but they are no where connected to my death”.
Patil who was a contractor claimed to have completed 108 works worth Rs four crore. However Eshwarappa was not releasing the bill demanding 40 per cent commission.
However Eshwarappa had outrightly denied the allegation saying no works of his department were awarded to Patil.
Patil had also claimed that he was a BJP worker and was also in the inner circle of Eshwarappa and had even released his photos with the minister to media, to corroborate his claim.
Eshwarappa had denied again feigning ignorance over knowing any person by that name.
