Having good immunity is the key to fight diseases and so also Covid-19 pandemic. Eating good food and being active is the key to develop a strong immunity even to weather the storm.

Healthy routine to follow:

  • Have warm water first thing after waking up and before bedtime. Have a glass of warm water after each meal. Infuse aromatic herbs like tulsi, basil and mint in water.

  • Get your daily dose of Vitamin D by being in morning sunlight for at least 30 minutes. Stretch a little, engage in light exercises or yoga. Get fresh natural air as much as possible.

  • Gargle with salt water twice a day, practice nasal cleansing (Jala-neti exercise) and breathing exercises. This is essential for people who have to go out daily to work.

  • Always eat fresh, home cooked, warm food. Include spices and seeds in curries and sambar. Eat small handful of dry fruits and nuts daily. Eat at least two seasonal fruits daily. Use different types of grains and vegetables in your daily cooking. Use seeds and nuts moderately. Include Citrus fruits in cooking and juices.

  • Along with good food, having 6 to 7 hours of undisturbed sleep is essential. Staying active, having food from natural sources and keeping your mind engaged are necessary to catch a good sleep.

Caring for Mental and Emotional wellbeing : This pandemic has affected all of us, the young and old alike. It has caused mental stress to people affected by the virus and more so to people who have lost their loved ones. From boredom and loneliness to the stress caused by uncertainty, everyone is disturbed some way or another.

  • Mental stability is very essential during these tough times.

  • One should indulge in their hobbies. It is a good way to come out of boredom and be creative. Explore your creativity in writing, painting, dancing, singing, teaching, growing your own food, gardening, reading, cooking etc.,

  • When we are stable mentally and emotionally, we can take care of others too. Try to be positive, productive and kind to one and all.

  • Most importantly follow protocols issued by authorities. Stay healthy, stay safe.
