Bengaluru: Volunteers of Beggars Free Bharath Movement created awareness at Anil Kumble Circle, M G Road in the city on Sunday.

Vinod Karthavya who works in defence sector and associated with this movement told Mysoorunews.com “the movement stemmed from a real life incident I was witness to enroute office recently.”

Volunteers of Beggars Free Bharat Movement creating awareness in Bengaluru on Sunday

As I reach my office via Trinity Circle, Bengaluru Central, Brigade road, Anil Kumble circle and Chinnaswamy stadium, beggars are found at all these junctions. Two weeks back, a woman with a five to six months old kid hanging on to her shoulder, was seen seeing alms at Anil Kumble circle. As the baby started crying, she took it aside and held a cotton waste soaked with solution near its nose to calm it down. It was hardly a few months old baby, rickety and seems to have been deliberately kept starving.”

It was a trigger and I went deep into the racket and enquired among my friends and even officials in his know- how. It has different proportions”, said Vinod who searched for even the intricate details related to beggary on internet.

What shocked him was how the newborns are stolen from hospitals and sold for lakhs of rupees.

According to “Karnataka prohibition of beggary Act 1975″ it is illegal to beg for alms in any public place,” due to huge money involved in this begging.

The effects of this are- Children and women are kidnapped, human trafficking and physical assaults and many more crimes against gullible kids and women are encouraged obliquely.

Hence to get freedom from all the above social evils and as a responsible citizen let’s not give money to beggars. Instead we can give them back in kind.

“I request citizens to not give money to any kind of emotional weekness. Let’s make our country Beggar’s Free Bharath” said Vinod of Team Bengaluru Hudugaru.

Any law can be effectively implemented with active public participation. It is only when such a huge racket can be routed out, said Vinod.
