Beef making entry into Mangaluru thru ‘illegal slaughter houses’ in Kerala- Karnataka border: MLA Vedavyas Kamath

1 min read

Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has directed the police to act tough against illegal slaughter houses in the city.

Kamath has stated that “Despite the law prohibiting cow slaughtering is in place, the cows are being slaughtered unabated and are also being smuggled with no control on such activities. Illegal slaughter houses have come up in Kerala- Karnataka border, where the cows smuggled from here are slaughtered. Later the beef is supplied into the city through Mudipu. Hence, the illegal slaughter houses must be identified and measures should be taken against them, Kamath has instructed the police.

Some vested interests are trying to foster communal violence, apart from cow slaughtering and smuggling in the otherwise peaceful coastal area. The government and the police are capable to handle them, Kamath added.
