Barack Obama to address Joint Session of Karnataka Legislature in Belagavi?

Bengaluru: Former US President Barack Obama is expected to address the joint session of the State Legislature in a special session to be convened at Belagavi Suvarna Vidhana Soudha anytime this year.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Law H K Patil told media persons, the State Government has decided to celebrate the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi’s historic Congress convention held in Belagavi 100 years ago in 1924. An invitation has been extended to Obama, from the Chief Minister’s Office. The schedule of the joint session of State Legislature will be decided, after receiving the response from the former US President’s office, said Patil, while December 24 to 26 marks the centenary of the historic Belagavi session presided over by Gandhiji.
Obama, during his tenure as US President had visited India on the invitation of then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in November 2010. In his address, Obama had hailed Gandhiji as a global leader.
