1 min read

Mysuru: As speculations are rife that former chief minister B S Yediyuappa’s son B Y Vijayendra would be fielded against Congress’ candidate Siddaramaiah, Yediyurappa along with his son visited Mysuru, on Friday.

They are having a marathon meeting with party leaders at Vijayanagar in the City to ascertain the possibilities of fielding Vijayendra.

On Thursday, BJP veteran Yediyurappa had hinted that B Y Vijayendra may contest from Varuna and the party is discussing such a possibility. In Varuna, majority of the population belongs to Lingayat community and this could be the reason behind fielding Vijayendra, say party insiders. Yediyurappa had said that “It would not be easy for Siddaramaiah to win from Varuna this time. We will field a strong candidate against him.” According to party insiders, Vijayendra would be fielded in Shikaripura but it is not clear whether the party will allow him to contest from two constituencies. Shikaripura in Shivamogga district has been the bastion of Yediyurappa and Vijayendra is keen to contest from here.
