Awareness on Swachhata gets a touch of creativity
2 min readMysuru: Mysuru City Corporation is leaving no stone unturned to reclaim the top spot in clean cities in the country.
To create awareness among the people, MCC along with Clean Mysuru Foundation and Namma Mysuru Foundation has organised Swachhata Hero wall painting competition as part of Swachh Survekshan-2020.
Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Gurudatta Hegde inaugurated the competition by painting a wall on Mahatma Gandhi Road.
About 30 professional painters from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Nanjangud a d T Narasipura are taking part in the competition.
MCC identified the Zoo compound wall on a stretch of road on Lalith Mahal road opposite Mysuru Race Course to paint. MCC has given themes about Swachh Bharat, wildlife conservation, environment to the artists.
MCC commissioner Gurudatta Hegde told Mysoorunews.com the campaign towards sustainability, Ploggathon and painting competition will create awareness among people about cleanliness. It’s a process of bringing behavioural changes, self- realisation towards sustainability.
MCC and a few organisations have teamed up for cleanliness and retain the crown of Mysuru as a cleanest city, he said.
MCC additional commissioner N M Shashikumar, Zoo executive director Ajith Kulkarni, Health officers Dr M S Jayanth, Dr D G Nagaraj and Environmental Engineers participated.
First prize of Rs.10,000 is sponsored by D K Constructions and second prize Rs 5,000 by Namma Mysuru Foundation.
Guru Sweets and Health wing contractors sponsored wall paints and base paints for participants.
