Mysuru: Former chairman of State legislative council D H Shankaramurty on Tuesday said that ‘ Nowadays people’s aversion towards politicians is on the rise. The people have developed a habit of criticising the political leaders in the back’.
Speaking during a civic honour organised for former MLC Thontadarya at Saptapadi Choultry in the city, Shankaramurthy described Thontadarya as a rare politician who is still revered for his good deeds. Never did Thontadarya had an inclination that he would be put behind bars during the period of emergency nor did he look forward for the day when he would be honoured with a civic honour.
RSS leader Su Ramanna who recalled his association with Thontadarya since 1971 said ‘ Its been close to 50 years since I know Thontadarya. He was associated with JSS and I was with RSS. However our bond on the pedestal of culture remained intact’.
Thontadarya and his wife Dr Kamala Devi were felicitated by Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra and Siddeshwara Swami of Jnana Yogashram, Vijayapura.
Two books ‘ Vishistaadvaita’ and ‘ Panchapeetagala Parampare’ authored by Guru S Bale were released on the occasion.
