Atishi Singh Marlena chosen as new Delhi CM

Delhi: Atishi Singh Marlena was chosen as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on Tuesday.

After his arrest and release in the Excise policy case, the incumbent CM Arvind Kejriwal had announced to quit as Chief Minister on Sunday.

Kejriwal will be submitting his resign soon, it is learnt.

Atishi Singh Marlena was born on June 8, 1981, into a Punjabi-Rajput family. Her parents, Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi, were both professors of Delhi University.

Atishi excelled academically, earning a degree in History from St Stephen’s College, where she was a top-ranking student of Delhi University. She later pursued her Master’s degree at Oxford University through the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. Additionally, she completed a second Master’s from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, specialising in Educational Research.

Atishi has played a pivotal role in transforming Delhi’s government school system, significantly improving infrastructure and implementing school management committees in line with the Right to Education Act.
