Varanasi: The stage has been set for yet another big electoral battle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday filed his nomination papers as the BJP candidate for parliamentary elections from Varanasi seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Modi is seeking his re-election from Varanasi the seat he had won in 2014 polls.
The time Modi handed over his papers to the district magistrate at Varanasi was 11.43 am. As Modi handed over papers the officials seated on the either side were gazing at the moment, that not many can witness in private.
Interestingly keeping his ‘ Chowkidar’ call alive, Modi’s nomination papers had the name of Jagadish Chowdary of Domraj family as one of the proposers. Domraj family performs last rites of the dead at Manikarnika Ghat in the temple town.
Modi received his papers from Dr Annapoorna Shukla. He also sought her blessings by touching her feet.
