Asian U-14 Tennis Tournament: Mysuru girl Padmapriya, Diya pair triumphs

Bengaluru: India’s Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar (seen right in photo above) and Diya Ravikumar won the girls doubles title in the Asian U-14 tennis tournament in Ahmedabad on Friday.
In an all-India final, Mysuru girl Padmapriya and Diya, the top seeds, carried far too many guns for the second-seeded pair of Mariya Patel and Aaradhana Tehlan, winning 6-3, 6-3.
Earlier, the top seeds survived a scare in the semifinals, scoring a come-from-behind 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 10-7 win over the pair of Sahej Lakhat (US) and India’s Krishika Gautam.
In singles action, 12-year-old Padmapriya, who won a splendid double at the Asian Junior event in Bengaluru two months ago, fell 2-6, 4-6 in the pre-quarters to Sarena Gahlot.
India’s Khushi Kadian won the singles title with a straightforward 6-4, 6-3 win over Sarena.
