Ashada Friday puja begins at Chamundi Hill temple

Mysuru: Ashada Friday puja began at Goddess Chamundeshwari temple at Chamundi Hill in the city on Friday.

Starting from today, the special puja will be held on every Friday on July 23 and July 30 and August 6.

The vardhanti of Goddess Chamundeshwari is also on July 30 and Bheemana Amavasye puja on August 8. The devotees are restricted from visiting the temple on these days too.

The puja rituals began with Rudrabhisheka and Kumkumabhisheka in keeping with the annual tradition.

However the rituals this time was restricted to tradition as the devotees are restricted from visiting the temple on Ashada Fridays, complying with Covid safety protocol.

Like every year, the presiding deity was decorated with flowers of types. The temple premises was also decorated with flowers of types both vertically and horizontally.

Strands of Mysore Mallige, chrysanthemum, marigold and several other types of flowers adorned the ceiling, walls and pillars of the temple.

However, what lacked the most was devotees who defined the festive mood during Ashada Friday every year by descending on the shrine from across the State.
