As villagers boycott, delayed start for voting at Elige Hundi, Chamundeshwari Constituency

Mysuru: Voting was delayed for sometime at Elige Hundi, Mysuru taluk in Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency on Wednesday.

The villagers announced to boycott polling, in protest against lack of basic infrastructural facilities like Underground Drainage (UGD), road and others, staying away from voting that started at 7 am.

Following this Tahsildar B N Girish of Mysuru Taluk the Election Officer of Chamundeshwari and DySP of rural, rushed to the village and convinced the villagers about the significance of voting and the right to vote for the candidate of their choice. It was incorrect to stay away from voting without exercising the franchise granted by the Constitution, the officers told villagers.

The villagers relented and agreed to vote, with total 280 including 159 men and 121 women voters getting their fingers inked till 2.30 pm.
