Mysuru: Rain is the fear factor in Palace City Mysuru, as three buildings that were in dilapidated condition collapsed due to nature’s fury on Wednesday.

In October, Mysuru City Corporation had assured to identify weak structures, but the alleged negligence on the part of the authorities concerned was exposed yesterday, along with uprooting of many trees and drains damaged in several places.

Three structures on Ashoka Road, Uttaradi Mutt road and several other roads which were severely damaged in heavy downpour collapsed. Fortunately there were no casualties.

A portion of the house on Ramanuja road 13th cross may collapse any moment. Similar is the situation on Krishna Vilas Road.

Corporation authorities are accused of deviating from discharging their duties. No action plan was prepared to check rain damages and did not prepare according to weather forecast.

With rains expected to pound for three more days including Mysuru, it’s high time the authorities be ready to tackle damages in near future.

The people hit by rains are cursing MCC and other concerned authorities for not doing anything to address the situation on warfooting.
