As curator of Mysuru Zoo, Krishne Gowda introduced animal exchange programme

Mysuru: Former curator of Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru zoo) C D Krishnegowda passed away at the age of 90 on Tuesday.

Chikkanayakanahalli Dasegowda Krishnegowda was a native of KR Nagar taluk. He served Mysuru zoo as a curator for three decades.

He joined the zoo as Curator in 1958, after his stint with Horticulture department for some time.

Krishnegowda was also trained at Germany zoo.

He introduced animal exchange programme and brought Africa elephant, Giraffe and Gorilla to the zoo here, which increased the tourist footfalls to Zoo.

He retired from services in 1990.

Gowda also dabbled in politics for sometime, as he was elected as a Corporator to Mysuru City  Corporation (MCC) in 1997 from Ittigegud ward.

The last rites will be held at Saraswathi farm on Chamundi hill road today.

He is survived by his brother and retired DySP CD Jagadish and five sons.
