Mysuru: With 48 hours left for Jamboo Savari (Vijayadashami) procession at Palace on October 26, a full dress rehearsal was conducted on Saturday.
Vijayadashami procession that marks the culmination of Navaratri on October 26 is scheduled between 2-59 pm and 3.30 PM.
According to Experts Committee only 300 people including performers, police and officers are allowed on the palace premises on the D-day as a precaution against pandemic.
This year five elephants Abhimanyu, Gopi, Vikrama, Vijaya and Kaveri elephants are taking part in Dasara.
Wooden howdah was installed on Abhimanyu, while the members of police band, Nadaswara artistes, five cultural and folk troupes along with mounted police troop took out a dry run at the Palace ground.
The procession is restricted to 290 metres within the palace precincts, as it has been decided to celebrate Dasara in a simple manner, as a precaution against Covid-19.
Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta inspected the rehearsal.
Cultural troupes like that of Veeragase, Kilugombe, Maragalu (stilt walking), Chande and Tamate troupes also took part. Flower petals were offered to wooden howdah and canon firing was conducted in the background followed by the rendition of National Anthem.
Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta said “we have completed all the preparations. Chief Minister and the other guests will be present on the day”.
