Mysuru: The city police have set up anti-human trafficking unit.
Police Commissioner Dr K Chandragupta inaugurated the unit set up on the premises of Women’s police station in the first floor of Lashkar police station building.
The unit has been set up utilising Nirbhaya Fund. The fund sanctioned by the central government to women and child welfare development is spent on strengthening measures for the safety and dignity of women, who are most vulnerable to human trafficking racket.

DGP and IGP Praveen Sood recently directed all the police commissionerates and district police to set up Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.
City Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta said that “it’s not just an unit, but will coordinate with inter- state police to investigate in detail into the missing cases of women and children’s. In most of the missing cases, the motive is to exploit the victims”.
DCP ( Crime and Traffic) Geetha Prasanna will head the unit, comprising the representatives of various NGOs to work in a coordinated manner, said Chandragupta.
The unit will coordinate with all the police stations. But only those missing cases that have to be dealt by the unit will be taken up for further probe, he added.
