Animal Mercy Campaign in Gudalur, Tamil Nadu by Animal Welfare Board of India Monitoring Committee Chairman Dr S K Mittal

Tamil Nadu: Indian Animal Welfare Board Monitoring Committee Chairman Dr S K Mittal visited Gudalur in Tamil Nadu and directed all the officials to take immediate action against illegal animal transport and slaughterhouses.

In the presence of Gudalur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Francis, Deputy Police Chief Mahishkumar, Forest Officer Manojkumar, Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Rajneesh, Finance Inspector Kalpana and others, Mittal conducted inspection at various places to prevent continuous smuggling of cattle and beef from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu to Kerala and Instructed to set up outposts and take serious action against the guilty smugglers.

Describing the sale of unauthenticated meat at meat shops as serving poison to non-vegetarians, taking cognizance of this, the civic body health officials advised to give this task to non-government veterinarians in the testing team and directed proper investigation at slaughterhouses and shops. 

Discussing various schemes of the state and central government for land and other assistance to animal welfare organizations in the construction of a large gaushala for the maintenance of animals caught while protecting them in Gudalur.

Dr Mittal while participating in the festival of Kamti Mukambika Dev Sthan of Gudalur appreciated the work of cow protection and assured full cooperation.
