Mysuru: Minister for Animal Husbandry K Venkatesh on Saturday stoked a controversy hinting at cancelling Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act 2020.

Venkatesh who arrived in the city for the first time after becoming the Minister, was felicitated by Mysuru District Congress Committee at the party office.

Venkatash who represents Periyapatna in the Assembly spoke to media persons at Jaladarshini Guest House on Hunsur road.

Venkatesh said “When we slaughter buffalo and other animals, why can’t cows? I also have cows at home and remember how we had to struggle to bury the carcass of a cow. Even 25 people couldn’t move the carcass of the cow. We had to bring earth moving vehicle to dig the pit to bury the carcass of the cow.”

We will make law that benefits farmers, said Venkatesh hinting at changing the existing law against slaughtering of cows.
