AICC spokesperson Aishwarya Mahadev plans to stitch one lakh masks

Mysuru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Aishwarya Mahadev has set a target of stitching 50,000 to one lakh masks. It is to empower women tailors in the state, especially in K R Nagar taluk who are also affected by lockdown to a larger extent.

Aishwarya a native of same taluk has embarked on this task under the banner of Late Manchanahalli Mahadev Seva Balaga founded after her father and former MLA late Manchanahalli Mahadev.

Aishwarya explained that “Any women having a tailoring machine can stitch the mask, the raw material for which will be provided from the Balaga. If interested the women can stitch not less than 500 masks in a week that will be purchased at a price from the Balaga. IAS officer P Manivannan is also helping with raw material and 1,000 metres of cloth has been purchased for the purpose. The necessary clearances are also obtained to prepare the masks”.

Aishwarya said that she has been also holding talks with stree shakti sanghas in the taluk to engage more women in the task. The intention is to provide masks to all the 32 government departments and also Journalists.

In the last 10 days we have given 12,000 masks to those in the lead of fight against Coronavirus, like health workers, police personnel, PDOs, she added.
