Bengaluru: The ripples created over “next Chief Minister candidate” in Congress party is yet to die, here comes another development that will keep the heat alive for some more time.
The latest buzz is about Opposition Leader in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah planning to host Ahinda convention apparently as a show of strength.
This stance of Siddaramaiah reportedly stems from a development within the party fold, as he was caught off-guard over a faction within the party planning to build a strong ground for ” Dalit CM.”
Worried, Siddaramaiah is planning to sharpen his cudgels by organising Ahinda (Kannada acronym for alpasankhyata, hindulida and dalita) convention.
Siddaramaiah is keen to host Ahinda convention across the state to safeguard his vote bank ahead of the next Assembly elections due in 2023.
According to sources “Siddaramaiah and former minister Dr H C Mahadevappa also a dalit leader met at an undisclosed location and discussed at length about organising Ahinda convention.”
Meanwhile, speculations are also rife that, the group which is garnering support for a dalit leader to be the CM if Congress returns to power, has contacted Mahadevappa.
So Siddaramaiah is planning to counter the advantage the detractors may get by hosting Dalit convention.
The recent political development triggered after former minister and Chamarajpet Congress MLA B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan took the name of Siddaramaiah as “next CM candidate.”
