Ahead of reopening schools from August 23, minister reviews preparations

Mysuru: With a week left for the offline classes to resume for the students of grades nine to 12 from August 23, Cooperation and district incharge minister S T Somashekar on Tuesday reviewed the preparedness on the part of the authorities.

Presiding over a meeting at ZP hall in the city, Somashekar directed the officials to keep a tab on the students to ensure that no untoward incidents are reported as the schools are being opened on the recommendations of the central committee. The officials should instil confidence in both students and parents, he added.

With adequate doses of vaccine available, all the teachers should be given vaccine, before the start of schools, the minister said.

The government is always with you.IIn case of any decisions, bring it to the notice of the government and implement the orders at the earliest. Daily 10,000 tests are conducted and Covid negative certificate has been made mandatory for those coming from border areas. The officials are doing their job and there is no need to fear, the minister added.

Earlier the officials approved that “There are a total of 9088 teachers from government, aided and unaided high schools in the district. Of those teachers, 5875 have taken both doses of vaccination. While 2417 teachers have taken only one dose, with 796 teachers yet to take the jab.”

Mayor Anwar Baig, MLAs G T Devegowda and B Harshavardhan, MLCs R Dharmasena, Marithibbe Gowda and K T Srikante Gowda, MUDA Chairman H V Rajiv, DC Dr Bagadi Gautham, MCC Commissioner G Lakshmikantha Reddy, ZP CEO A M Yogeesh, Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta, SP R Chetan and other officials were present.
