Ahead of PM’s visit, Tumakuru turns into a fortress

Tumakuru: In view of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city on January 2 , the otherwise sleepy town Tumakuru has turned into a virtual fortress.

The prime minister will be launching the second edition of PM Krishi Samman Yojane of the Central Government, at Government Junior College Grounds at 3.30 PM. Over one lakh people are expected to gather at the ground.

Apart from Tumakuru, police personnel from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Hubballi- Dharwad have been roped in for  foolproof security arrangements.

Four officers in the cadre of SP, 200 sub- Inspectors will be manning security arrangements.

While the security cover around Modi will be of special protection group (SPG) personnel, the exclusive security wing for the country’s premier comprising elite commandos of the army.
