Ahead of Covid third wave, Minister Somashekar hints at tightening norms at tourist spots, temples

Mysuru: Minister S T Somashekar who has been tasked with Covid and flood related works of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts on Friday hinted about drawing guidelines to tighten the norms further.

Somashekar expressed that “We are more concerned about public and business class. While regarding the proposal to close tourist destinations, we will decide about it in the meeting scheduled on Saturday with the district administration,” he said.

Somashekar said ” We have sought details of temples where devotees gather in large numbers and measures to taken to restrict the numbers. We will take a decision in the meeting, as we have to ensure that there shouldn’t be any trouble further due to Covid and vice-versa.”

Covid cases are spiking again in Kerala and few other districts, with the persisting threat over Covid third wave hitting soon. However, a lot of confusions prevail still.

In this wake, Somashekar will hold a key meeting with the district administration at Zilla Panchayat hall.
