Ahead of Council polls, JDS MLC Marithibbe Gowda launches blistering attack on HDk

Mysuru: With the elections declared to Legislative Council, fissures in JDS are coming out in open.

Joining the list of disgruntled legislators, who quit the party, JDS MLC Marithibbe Gowda on Tuesday said “I will leave the party for sure and won’t contest elections on that party ticket”.

Before that, Gowda launched a scathing attack on former chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Venting his anguish for denying the ticket to seek reelection from South Graduates constituency comprising Mysuru, Mandya and Hassan districts, Marithibbe Gowda took potshots at Kumaraswamy for fielding a money bag instead of a honest party worker in the election.

JDS has given ticket to Ramu ignoring Keelara Jayaram who worked for the party for the last 30 years. “I wanted to know on what merit Ramu is being given the ticket?” asked Marithibbe Gowda who was also the deputy chairman of Legislative Council earlier.

Is money the only criterion, not hardwork? asked Marithibbe Gowda for ignoring Jayaram.

He also clarified that “I have never said the ticket has been sold for money, instead moneybags are considered for the ticket. Prajwal Revanna the sitting Hassan MP had once made similar allegations saying “only those with suitcase carry value in the party”, said Gowda.

Recalling the conversation with JDS Supremo H D Deve Gowda, Marithibbe Gowda said “Deve Gowda swore on God saying Keelara Jayaram will be given ticket. But, now it aappears there is barely any value for even Deve Gowda’s words”, alleged Marithibbe Gowda.

Clarifying that he will remain neutral in the elections, Marithibbe Gowda said “most of the leaders have quit party especially after Kumaraswamy became chief minister for the second term. Despite such developments, no meeting has been convened to discuss in party platform”.

Referring to the allegations of seeking money for poll expenditures, Marithibbe Gowda dared Kumaraswamy to disclose the amount. He also offered to tender apology in public if he committed any fault.

Marithibbe Gowda also advised Kumaraswamy to mend his ways, that would either prove a disaster for the party.
