After spike in Covid cases in Kerala, high alert in Mysuru border

Mysuru: High alert is sounded at the border in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts  after the surge in Covid cases in Kerala in the last 48 hours.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced two days lockdown on July 31 and August 1 after Wednesday saw 22,000 fresh Covid cases.

In Karnataka particularly Mysuru and Chamarajanagar share border with Kerala. At H D Kote in Mysuru, officials are screening inter-state travellers at Bavali checkpost.

H D Kote Taluk Health Officer Dr Ravikumar told Mysoorunews.com “Waynad region in Kerala is safe now, as Malappuram, Calicut and other districts saw huge cases. However, we are following our chief secretary’s guidelines to mandatorily check vaccine certificate or RTPCR Negative report not older than 72 hours to allow the travellers inside,” Dr Ravikumar added.

For continuous four days, H D Kote saw zero cases. While on Wednesday four cases were reported, said Dr Ravikumar.
