After Sankranti, JD(S) Corporators to leave for resort stay

2 min read

Mysuru: Former minister and K R Nagar JD(S) MLA Sa Ra Mahesh has been devising strategies to win mayoral elections for the party this time. The election is on January 18 and the mayor’s post this time is reserved for backward classes ‘A’ woman and deputy mayor for SC woman.

Though it seems to be easy going for the regional party in coalition with Congress, Mahesh is wary of BJP going to any length to win the election.

Mahesh who is holding a meeting of the party corporators at Mayor House (MCC Guest House) has hinted at moving the party Corporators to a resort soon after Sankranti festival on January 15.

Mahesh told the Corporators to be united to bring the party to power. He also strictly suggested the corporators to not to use their cell phones during resort stay, and promised to make alternate arrangements to communicate with their family members, he added.
As expected, miffed MLA GT Devegowda, MLC Sandesh Nagaraj stayed away from the meeting. However, the corporators in the coterie of Gowda took part in the meeting.
Deputy Mayor Shafi Ahmed, former VC and JD(S) leader Prof K S Rangappa, former mayor M J Ravikumar, former corporators K T Chaluvegowda and K V Mallesh, JD(S) leader Azeez Abdulla were present.
Mayor aspirants Corporators Namratha Ramesh, Nirmala Harish, Taslim and Reshma Bhanu were also present.
In the 65 member council MCC, BJP has highest of 22 corporators, followed by Congress’ 19, JD(S) 18, five independents and a lone BSP corporator.
Apart from them local MP, MLAs and MLCs are also eligible to vote taking the total voters to 74.
