Mysuru: Following the failure of Janata Dal (Secular) party in wresting power in K R Nagar town municipal council elections, Party state president A H Vishwanath has lambasted fellow party MLA and Tourism and Sericulture Minister Sa Ra Mahesh.
Taking a dig at Mahesh, Vishwanath who is known for his no fear attitude, blamed Mahesh for his certain stands that went against the party in the urban local body election.
Mincing no words, at K R Nagar on Saturday, Vishwanath advised Mahesh also K R Nagar MLA to shun casteism and take everybody irrespective of caste and creed into confidence to uphold the spirit of secularism. The politics in K R Nagar was once known for politics based on the principles of secularism. Be it former minister H S Nanjappa or myself, we were followed by leaders without any caste barriers’.
‘ Money alone can’t decide anything, the mindset counts and the minister should win over the heart of the people’, said Vishwanath.
Recalling the unsavoury experience he himself had to face at the hands of Mahesh, Vishwanath said ‘ I requested him to take Kuruba community candidates too, while considering ticket aspirants in TMC elections. However, he considered the name of only one aspirant. Despite being denied ticket, four other aspirants from the same community have won the election’.
Mahesh should not forget that ‘He has won the recent assembly election by a wafer thin margin of 1,600 votes only due to me. When I switched over to JD(S), my followers including from Kuruba and other communities have voted for him’.
It’s only due to the minister’s arrogant behaviour Congress has succeeded in the elections at TMC, said Vishwanath.
