Afghan students in Mysuru want Visa extension! VC promises to talk with MEA

Mysuru: A delegation of students hailing from Afghanistan studying in Mysuru met the authorities of University of Mysore on Tuesday.

As uneasy calm prevails in Afghanistan after the return of Taliban, all those students are demanding for now is extension of Visa to facilitate their stay for some more time in the city.
University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Prof G Hemanth Kumar and Registrar Prof R Shivappa who gave a patient hearing to the demands of the students, eventually extended their moral support to them.
“We are like family and will take care of you,” said VC reassuring the disturbed students. VC also asked the students about their parents and their safety. Don’t worry for whatever has happened, he said.
University of Mysore will coordinate with the Ministry of External affairs about the plea for Visa extension, Hemanth Kumar promised the students.
About 30 students from Afghanistan are studying in the University, while around 60 students are studying in different colleges. All are coordinating with the Varsity.
Janaradhan of International Students Hostel will be available for any enquiry, said Vice- Chancellor.
