Advocates start arriving to file petition in Nalini’s favour

Mysuru: In a first of its kind in the State, about 200 advocates have arrived here on January 20, to file petition in favour of Nalini Balakumar who displayed ‘Free Kashmir placard’ at Manasagangotri the PG campus of University of Mysore on January 08

 
Advocates from different parts of the State attended to file petition in favour of Nalini Balakumar. It includes All india lawyers Union State secretary Srinivas Kumar from Mandya, Backward Classes Commission former chairman C S Dwarakanath, B T Venkatesh and S Shankrappa from Bengaluru, People’s Lawyers Guild president Anis Pasha from Davangere and also advicates from Mysuru and other districts numbering about nearly 200 advocates signed the petition submitted at the court of second Additional District and Sessions Court Judge (ADJ). 
 
Srinivas Kumar told Mysoorunews.com its a first of its kind in Karnataka where advocates are united and participating in this case, he said. 
 
On the other hand, the general body meeting of Mysuru Bar Association is  underway at the association hall. 
 
On January 8, students associations took out a protest rally against JNU violence. At that time university of Mysore alumnus Nalini Balakumar displayed free Kashmir placard, which sparked a major controversy.
 
Jayalakshmipuram police booked a suo motu case for sedition under IPC sections 34 and 124A.
 
Mysuru Bar Association had passed a resolution not to appear for Nalini Balakumar.
