Bengaluru: Actress Rashmika Mandanna, is appointed as the National Ambassador for Cyber Safety.
Rashmika hailing from Kodagu, is advocating for stricter measures against cybercrime, drawing from her own experience as a victim of digital exploitation.
Through her new role, she is leading nationwide campaigns aimed at raising awareness about the growing threats in cyberspace.
The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, officially named Rashmika Mandanna as its ambassador.
Her mission is clear: to push for stronger policies that combat cybercrime in India. The actor’s personal ordeal with a deepfake video, which circulated online and caused her immense distress, has fueled her passion for this cause. Although the perpetrators were apprehended, the incident emphasized the urgent need for enhanced cyber safety.
On Tuesday, Rashmika addressed the public through an Instagram video, where she called attention to the escalating dangers of cybercrime. In her message, she emphasized the importance of vigilance in today’s digital world. “Having faced the consequences of cybercrime firsthand, I believe now is the time for tougher measures to protect our digital lives,” she wrote.
She urged people to unite for a safer cyberspace, advocating for the protection of future generations. As she takes on her ambassadorial duties, Rashmika encouraged the public to report cybercrimes by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in, reiterating her commitment to working alongside the Government of India in this vital mission.
