Actor Sooraj Pancholi acquitted in Jia Khan’s suicide case

Mumbai: Nearly 10 years after actress Jia Khan committed suicide and her 32-year-old boyfriend actor Sooraj Pancholi was charged with abetment to suicide case, Special CBI Court acquitted him in the case on Friday.
Judge A S Sayyad acquitted Sooraj Pancholi for the paucity of evidence in the case.
The case dates back to June 3, 2013, when the 25-year-old actor cum model Jia Khan was found hanging at her Juhu flat in Versova police limits.
Following the charges of abetment to suicide made by Jia Khan’s mother Rabia Khan on the basis of a six-page death note purportedly written by her daughter, Versova police had arrested Sooraj, who was in custody for 32 days till his release on bail.
The case was later handed over to CBI.
While, Sooraj Pancholi distributed sweets to media persons outside the court soon after he came out, Jia Khan’s mother Rabia has said that she will be filing an appeal at Bombay High Court.
