Actor Sanchari Vijay laid to rest with state honours

Chikkamagaluru: The mortal remains of actor Sanchari Vijay (37) was laid to rest with state honours at his native Panchanahalli in Kadur taluk on Saturday.

Vijay’s younger brother Siddesh performed the rituals, under the supervision of Kuppur Yatheeshwara Swamiji.

The mortal remains was buried at the farm of Raghu a friend of Vijay, as per Veerashaiva Lingayat tradition.

Heart rending scenes were witnessed as the family members and villagers alike were in a deep sorrow.

Arrangements had been made for the villagers to pay their last respects.

The police fired three rounds in the air as a mark of respect to the departed soul. The police band played national anthem.

The gun was lowered, with the barrel touching ground and observing a minute’s silence, with the policemen bowing their head.

As a precaution, with Covid related restrictions in place, police cleared the crowd around the pit, allowing only the family members to complete the rituals.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy took part in the funeral as a representative of the state government.

Former Kadur MLA Y S V Datta and others werd present.
