Bengaluru: Following the approval of 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court, the process of shifting Sandalwood actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to Ballari Central Prison began on Tuesday.
Darshan is most likely to be shifted amid District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police security in the wee hours, at about 3 am on Wednesday.
After the photos and videos revealing the normal lifestyle of the actor, with access to outside food, cigarette and liquor, inside the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, the Police decided to shift Darshan and nine other accused arrested in Chitradurga Renukaswamy’s murder case.
While Darshan is being shifted to Ballari jail, the others are being shifted to different jails across the State; Mysuru Central prison, Dharwad, Vijayapura and other jails.
The controversy erupted after photos of Darshan Thoogudeepa, having a jolly time in the company of notorious rowdy-sheeters Wilson Garden Naga and Srinivas alias Kulla Seena and his Manager Nagaraj surfaced in media. The images showed Darshan sitting comfortably on a chair, holding a mug in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Additionally, videos of Darshan engaging in video calls with his friends also surfaced, prompting the Police to take a call.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said, Darshan will be transferred to another jail and if needed more jail staff will be suspended for providing VIP treatment to Darshan.
