Accident near Kurubur: Nine from three families including 3-year-old identified; 3 sustain grievous injuries

Mysuru: Those died in the gruesome accident at Kurubur near T Narasipur on Monday have been identified as residents of Sangankal in Ballari district. Nine from three families have been confirmed dead and they have been identified as Sandeep, 23, his father Kotresh, 45 and mother Sujatha, 35; another family’s Manjunath, 40, wife Poornima, 30, children Kartik, 11 and Pavan 7 and third family’s Gayathri, 30 and her daughter Shravya, 3. Three others have sustained injuries and they have been identified as Janardha, his son Puneeth and Shashikumar of Sanganakal village.

It is said that they had arrived in Mysuru from Ballari in train and had hired a vehicle to visit MM Hills.

Meanwhile, Ballari Assistant Commissioner Hemanth visited Sangankal village to inform the families. Sandeep is said to be from Kottur in Vijayanagar district and was running a Grama One centre. Others were from poor families who sold jowar rotis and condiments to eke out a living.

It is said that 12 from the village had gone on a trip to Mysuru and Chamarajanagar and nine have been confirmed dead.

Efforts are being made to send their bodies to the village.
