Abhiyenthararu National Theatre Festival from March 22 to 26 in Mysuru

Mysuru: Connoisseurs of theatre can look forward for yet another national theatre festival in the city.

Abhiyenthararu a popular amateur theatre troupe of Mysuru is organising National theatre festival from March 22 to 26 at Kiru Rangamandira on Kalamandira premises in the city.

This time a workshop on theatre is also organised for engineering students with the famous theatre personality and film actor Rajendra Karanth handling the task.

Apart from Kannada, other language plays like Malayalam and Hindi from different parts of the country will be staged with the theatre troupes performing their best plays in Mysuru.

Abhiyenthararu founder H S Suresh Babu said “the festival is being organised in coordination with Department of Kannada and Culture and Ministry of Culture, New Delhi”.

On March 22 theatre person Srinivas G Kappanna will inaugurate the festival, Kannada and Culture department joint director V N Mallikarjuna Swamy will be the chief guest and theatre person Rajendra Karanth will preside.

Mahi theatre troupe, Bengaluru will be staging the inaugural play- Amma mattu Suhail in Kannada directed by Karthik Hebbar.

On March 23 Rajendra Karanth’s- Mallige Thotadalli Murder will be staged at 7 PM.

On March 24- Kanal Samskarika Vedi, a Thiruvananthapuram based troupe will perform ‘The Trap’, in Malayalam directed by Aromal T.

On March 25-Abhinay Kalyan, Mumbai will perform ‘Wedding Anniversary’ directed by Abhizith Zunjarao.

On 26- March Kalabhi Theatre, Mangaluru will enact- Mamatheya Suli in kannada directed by Ganesh Mandarti at Kirurangamandira from 7 PM.

The ticket fare is fixed at Rs 100 and seasonal tickets priced Rs 400 are also introduced.
