AAP supports bank employees strike

1 min read

Mysuru: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Mysuru district unit lent their support to the nationwide strike by bank employees protesting against privatisation of public sector banks.

AAP Mysuru district President Malavikia Gubbivani said “Banks were nationalized in order to reach banking service to the poor and marginalized people. These banks are the backbone of our rural people economy since the 80s.”

Now, the government, with the intent of benefitting a few big businessmen, is privatizing these banks. Since motto of private banks is only maximization of profits, their service to rural customers and employees could see a sharp decline. Many rural branches may also close down, she apprehended.

“BJP government is citing NPA as the main reason for privatization but economists have made it clear that privatization is not the solution to tackle NPAs since almost all defaulters are private companies. BJP wants private business to make profits and is expecting huge donations from them in return. The same was the reason behind the three black farm laws. Hence this banking law too should meet the same fate if enacted in haste”, she asserted, according to Aam Aadmi Party, Mysuru, media coordinator, G R Vidyaranya.
