Caste Census: JDS Youth leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy has demands for tomorrow’s special meeting

Bengaluru: JDS Youth Wing State President Nikhil Kumaraswamy said ‘Karnataka Government will hold a special cabinet meeting on Thursday to discuss the 2015 Socio-Economic Survey (Caste Census). This issue is sensitive and has created unrest & confusion among communities. Tomorrow’s meeting must rebuild the trust of every Kannadiga.’
The survey used taxpayer’s money and included vital indicators like income, education, jobs, land and housing, not just caste. Yet, the data hasn’t been shared transparently. I urge the government to release the full report as-is and stop using it for political advantage.
The tomorrow’s meeting consider following demands: Releasing the full report to the public, convene All-party meeting for discussion, arrange consultation with religious leaders & organisations and release Whitepaper on data & methodology.
Every Kannadiga deserves a better life—beyond caste or creed, said Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
