Mysuru: D Devaraj Urs Fans Forum, Hunsur Taluk, Mysuru district, has strongly condemned the BJP’s alleged misinterpretation of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s remarks on amending the Constitution to provide reservations for
Muslims in contracts.

At a press conference held at the Mysuru District Journalists Association, forum president Bilikere Raju and senior members Bandukumar, Devaraj, Shivaraj and Krishna slammed the BJP for misleading the public and creating communal rifts.

Bilikere Raju pointed out the BJP’s history of undermining constitutional values and their
inconsistent stance on important issues.

“The BJP applauded Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s controversial comments about Dr B R Ambedkar in Parliament,” he said.

The forum accused the BJP of deliberately twisting the statement to create a political unrest and mislead the public.

The forum criticised the BJP’s history of opposing constitutional values, pointing out that the party has previously expressed dissatisfaction with Dr B R Ambedkar’s contributions.

The committee noted that, while the BJP had earlier called for changes to the Constitution, it is now attempting to portray itself as its protector, which they described as hypocritical.

The forum further alleged that, the BJP has been engaging in communal politics and spreading misinformation instead of focusing on governance. It also criticised BJP leaders for making derogatory remarks against senior Congress leaders, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, his son and RDPR Minister Priyank Kharge and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, questioning their
complexion, clothing choices and capabilities.

Additionally, the committee accused Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy of neglecting Dalit
interests within the party and former minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan of making disrespectful comments about Congress leaders. It dismissed BJP’s criticism of the Karnataka government, saying it was an
attempt to counter the growing popularity of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar.

Reaffirming its support for the Congress-led government, the forum stated that the party remains committed to constitutional principles, social justice and inclusive development.
