Farmers stage candle light protest in Mysuru; demand release of leaders arrested in Kanori, Punjab

Mysuru: Condemning the stand of Punjab Government and the Centre to scuttle the ongoing Farmers Movement at Kanori border in Punjab, by arresting hundreds of farmer leaders including Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) National Convener Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the farmer leaders in Mysuru staged a candle light protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi bust opposite Law Courts complex, Chamarajapuram in the city on Sunday.
Dallewal is leading the farmers movement for the last one year, demanding the implementation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) Guarantee Law, total waiving of farmers loan and pension for farmers aged 60 years and above.
The farmer leaders in Mysuru led by State Organising Secretary Attahalli Devaraj, under the joint aegis of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (NP), State Farmers Federation and State Sugarcane Growers Association, demanded that the arrested farmer leaders should be released and their demands should be addressed by the Government. They warned of staging the intensified protest, along with Punjab and Haryana farmers, against the Punjab Government in Delhi.
District General Secretary Baradanapura Nagaraj, District Working President Kiragasur Shankar, District Vice-president Marballi Neelakantappa, District Organising Secretary Parashivamurthy, Kurbur Siddesh, Pradeep, Bannur Soori, Chuncharayanahundi Girish, Heggur Rangaraju, Vajamangala Mahadev, Nagendra, Doddakatur Nagesh, Marballi Basavaraj, V Nagendra and others staged a protest.
