1 min read

Mysuru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and senior Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Saturday reignited the debate on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) used in the elections.

Addressing media persons at Congress party office Indira Bhavan in the city, Singhvi, said that, he has no objection towards EVM, but has his own doubts about the functioning of the machines.

“We want answers to the doubts raised over the electoral system. There was a sudden increase in the number of votes in Maharashtra and other Assembly elections. The BJP is misusing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) Department for its own advantage,” alleged Singvi.

On the recent decision of the State Government to provide 4 percent reservation for Muslims in the contract costing up to Rs 1 crore, Singhvi said, that being a State matter, the BJP has the right to move Court over the matter.

Singhvi was felicitated by Mysuru City and Rural Congress Committee, with a plaque of the Preamble of the Constitution of India and Mysore Peta.

City Congress President R Murthy, Rural Congress Committee President Dr B J Vijaykumar and others were present.
