67th National Shooting Championship in Bhopal: Mandya girl, Mysuru youth aim good

Bengaluru: Mysore Shooting Club trainer B R Darshan Kumar and JSS College student M S Punya from Mandya have emerged as the best shooters in the 67th National Shooting Championship (NSCC) held in Bhopal.
 
M S Punya, who trained at Darshan Kumar’s Mysore Shooting Club, has qualified for the Indian team trials by scoring good marks and has earned the reputation of a renowned shooter.
 
JSS College student M S Punya, who is known as the first civilian female shooter at the national level in the history of shooting in Mysuru, has emerged as the best shooter in all categories of the competition.
 
Punya, who has qualified for the Indian team trials in 22 events, brought glory to Mysuru by scoring 603.4 points in the prone event and 558 points in the 3P event in junior women’s category.
 
Tanay Chandra from Hassan, who is studying in class 9, has become a renowned shooter by scoring 588.7 points in the 10-meter air rifle sub-youth men’s category.
 
P Varshini from Mysuru, who is studying at Christ College, participated in the 10-meter air rifle youth and junior women’s category.
 
Mysore parashooter B R Darshan Kumar has been selected for the India Trials after participating in the Para National Shooter Competition organised by the Para Olympic Committee in Pune and securing high scores.
 
Happiness: Club coach B R Darshan Kumar, who expressed happiness over the shooters who have upheld the glory of Mysuru at the national level, thanked Hubballi Sports Shooting Academy coach Ravichandran Balehosur and the JSS College administration for encouraging the adventure sport.
