Mortal remains of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh consigned to flames

New Delhi: The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (92) were consigned to flames at Nigambodh Ghat on Saturday, by the chanting of sacred hymns, as per Sikh tradition.
His eldest daughter, Upinder Singh, lit the funeral pyre, as her mother
Gurusharan Kaur bid adieu with a heavy heart.
The last rites was performed with full military honours.
The ceremony was attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with other prominent leaders and foreign dignitaries.
Among the international figures who paid their respects were Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Mauritius’ Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful.
Key leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Opposition leaders M Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, also offered their final tributes to the former prime minister, who passed away on Thursday.
