Mysuru: In view of Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara-2024, the elephants and horses participating in Jamboo Savari will undergo preliminary practice to acclimatise them to the sound of cannon firing at the parking lot of Dasara Exhibition grounds on Bangalore- Nilgiri road.
According to the city Police, the practice will be conducted on September 26 and 29 and October 1 at 11 am.
Cannon firing is an integral part of Jamboo Savari, since princely era. The 21-gun salute was offered to the Maharaja, by firing 21 rounds of cannon.
Following the abolition of princely rule, the gun salute is offered to the presiding deity Goddess Chamundeshwari, the idol of which will be placed inside the 750-kg Golden Howdah mounted on the howdah carrier elephant.
