Gandhi Shilpa Bazaar and Garvi Gurjari Handicraft Exhibition begin at JSS Mysore Urban Haat

Mysuru: MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar inaugurated Gandhi Shilpa Bazaar organised by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India from September 20 to September 26 and Garvi Gurjari Handicraft Exhibition and Sale sponsored by Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. from September 20 to September 29 at JSS Mysore Urban Haat on Friday.
 
About 50 to 60 artisans, handloom weavers, including national and state award winning artisans from various States of the country will unveil their masterpieces at the exhibition.
 
Wood Carving, Stone Sculpture, Bronze Idols, Wood Hanging Art, Earthen Pottery, Paper, Carpet, Cotton Jamaka, Imitation Jewellery, Woodwork, Batik, Kalamkari Painting, Leather Charms, Artistic Leather Slippers, Channapatna Dolls, Embroidery Art, Maheshwari, Chanderi sarees, patta chitra, silver delicate design items, bamboo-cane items, chicken embroidery, dry plovers, artistic stone items, Phulkari clothes will be available for purchase under one roof at this fair.
 
The first Garvi Gurjari Handicrafts Mela, sponsored by “Gujarat State Handlooms and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd” an affiliate organisation of Gujarat State is scheduled from September 20 to 29 at JSS Mysore Urban Haat.  
 
Special features of the fair: This time, the fair is different from the previous fairs. More than 30 famous and active artisans from different parts of Gujarat are participating in the fair. Patola sarees, bandini sarees, embroidered bed sheets, towels, cushion covers, eco-friendly jewellery, dress materials, clay items, bead work, metal work, kurtis, chaniya choli, bandini and other attractive handicrafts and handloom products are on display cum sale.
 
The Gujarat Government is making an effort to provide products directly from the manufacturers to the consumers at affordable prices.
 
The customers in and around Mysuru will get direct access to Gujarati cultural wear and decorative items, in high quality, at low prices. The entry is free.
 
KSRTC Bus Route No. 117/1 will ply daily from the City Bus Stand to JSS Mysore Urban Haat.
 
The inaugural session was presided over by Dr C G Betasuramath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha.
 
Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway (SWR), Mysore Division was the chief guest.
 
Dr Parul Mansata from Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd and Sunilkumar Assistant Director, Handicraft Seva Kendra, Ministry of Textiles were present.
