2 min read

Mysuru: Teacher’s Day is generally celebrated by felicitating teachers and giving them gifts, but the teachers of Excel Public School in the city celebrated teacher’s day by donating their blood.

Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO) in association with Excel Public School and Jeevadhara Blood Bank conducted a voluntary blood donation camp at Excel Public School premises here on Sunday.

Gowtham Dhamerla, Chief Operating Officer, BHIO who also spoke on the occasion said “By donating blood, you are not only saving a life who needs blood for living, you are saving a family who will always be thankful to you, as you are the reason for the living of that survivor. I really appreciate teachers for coming out voluntarily and donating blood for a noble cause and making teacher’s day more memorable and meaningful”.

Mathew K G, Principal of Excel Public School said “In celebration of this year’s Teachers’ Day, the staff of Excel Public School decided to commemorate the occasion in a unique and meaningful way. We believe that fostering a sense of care and compassion for our fellow humans is a fundamental value that must be instilled in the next generation. What better way to demonstrate this than by actively participating in a noble cause? Therefore, as part of our Teachers’ Day celebrations, we organised a blood donation camp. This initiative not only reflects our commitment to nurturing responsible and empathetic individuals but also reinforces the importance of giving back to the community”.

“I have been reading in newspapers that many people die due to lack of blood. So as teachers we decided to spread a message of “donate blood, save life”, added a teacher.

Blood donation was led by Principal Mathew followed by Administrative Officer Colonel Chetan, who were the first two to donate blood in the morning.

During the day-long blood donation camp more than 71 teachers, some of them along with their family members donated blood.

The blood collected in the camp will be given to the needy patients of BHIO.

Anand, Marketing Head, BHIO and Rashmi, Manager, Jeevadhara Blood Bank were also present.
