Mysuru: While BJP has announced the candidature of scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar from Mysuru- Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency, Congress is still finding it hard to field a formidable candidate to take on Yaduveer.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who was engaged in parleys with his close aides at his TK Layout residence in the city, discussed the names of several ticket aspirants for Mysuru parliamentary seat.
With Mysuru being his home turf, Siddaramaiah is wary of his political rivals both within and outside the party, who may upset his plans, that may cost him his Chief Minister’s chair.
With a cautious approach Siddaramaiah is weighing pros and cons before zeroing on a winnable candidate, who can trounce Wadiyar, who wields a sizeable influence in the constituency.
Sources told Mysoorunews.com “Most of the leaders recommended the name of Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the former Varuna MLA and younger son of the Chief Minister as a suitable candidate to be pitted against Yaduveer. However, Siddaramaiah turned down the idea, it is said, reiterating his decision not to field his son for Lok Sabha elections.”
Meanwhile, the list of Congress ticket aspirants for Mysuru- Kodagu constituency is longer.
Former MLA M K Somashekar, Mysuru District Congress Rural Committee President Dr B J Vijaykumar, KPCC Spokesman M Lakshmana, former Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman C Basavegowda, Varuna Mahesh, Varuna Gurupadaswamy, Suraj Heggade the grandson of late former Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs, Poorvaj Vishwanath son of MLC A H Vishwanath are among the ticket aspirants, but there is no decision yet.
