Farm worker hides under car to escape jumbo attack

Hassan: A daily wager had a miraculous escape after a wild elephant attacked him at a arecanut farm at Kesaguli in Sakleshpur taluk in the district on Sunday. 
 
The tusker named Karadi chased the daily wagers on work at Pintos Nest Farm in Kesaguli. The labourer who ran to safety, later hid under the parked car in front of the farm house.
 
Of late, a herd of wild elephants have been causing panic among farmers in Hassan region.
 
The tusker Karadi has been causing panic among farmers in Hassan, Sakleshpura and Belur taluks. 
 
In the region, a herd of wild elephants like Beetamma group, estimated to be around 22 elephants, along with lone tuskers such as Karadi and Bhima, are frequently roaming in forests and farmlands, posing a threat to the local farming community.
