Former IAS Officer K Shivaram critical, under treatment at ICU

Bengaluru: Former IAS Officer and BJP leader K Shivaram is admitted to hospital following a heart attack and his condition is stated to be critical.

The 71-year-old Shivaram who has been unwell for the past few days, is currently undergoing treatment at HCG Hospital in the city. His health condition is reported to be serious and he is undergoing treatment in ICU.

Shivaram, a prominent figure in both the film industry and civil service, holds the distinction of being the first Kannadiga to clear the IAS examination by writing in Kannada.

Throughout his IAS career, he served in various districts including Vijayapura, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Koppal and Davangere. He has also served as the Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).

Shivaram who debuted in Kannada film industry with the movie “Ba Nalle Madhuchandrake,” gained recognition for his roles in films such as “Vasanta Kavya” and as a villain in “Sangliana 3.”

Apart from his contributions to cinema, he also delved into politics after his retirement in 2013, aligning himself initially with the Congress party. In 2014, he contested for Lok Sabha elections from Vijayapura constituency but faced defeat. Subsequently, he shifted his allegiance to the BJP.

He also lobbied for BJP ticket from Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha (Reserve) constituency in 2019 elections.

He has been known for his advocacy for Dalit rights through Chalavadhi Mahasabha.
