Veterinarian who took care of Dasara elephants sad over Arjuna’s death

Mysuru: Veterinarian Dr Nagaraj of Forest Department who nursed Dasara elephants for two decades is saddened over the death of elephant Arjuna. 

Arjuna the former Golden Howdah carrier was killed in a fight with a rogue elephant during a rescue operation at Yasalur district in Hassan on Monday.

After learning about the death of Arjuna, Dr Nagaraj shared the photos he had taken along with Arjuna, exclusively with www.mysoorunews.com

Dr Nagaraj had become an integral part of Dasara, from the year 2000 to 2021 and supervised the health of elephants camping at Palace premises during Dasara.

He also had the pride of preparing both Balarama (who also died recently) another howdah carrier elephant and his successor Arjuna, who died in a tragic fight today, by taking care of their diet and medicines.

Dr Nagaraj also trained the present howdah carrier Abhimanyu, till he was replaced by another Veterinarian incharge of Dasara elephants.
